As a lawyer, he has advised many venture capitalists and corporate finance organisations and has been involved in a significant number of acquisitions, mergers and management buy-ins / buy-outs. He also regularly assists companies with restructuring.

For the first 10 years after being sworn in as a lawyer, Arthur van der Kroef practised insolvency law. He is an experienced trustee, having settled more than 100 bankruptcies / moratoriums of payments. He has been teaching bankruptcy law (Alex van Groningen's Corporate Recovery course) since 1995. Arthur regularly acts in disciplinary cases for chartered accountants.

Arthur grew up in The Hague and lives in Amsterdam. He is married with two children. Chess and reading are among his favourite pastimes in his spare time. He also enjoys sports, including golf, skiing, football and sea sailing. His goal is to cross the ocean single handed one day.
